Cutie was a mare donated to us and our breeding program after a lifetime of successful showing. She amassed an incredible amount of titles, prizes and honors. In spite of her advanced age when we first got her here, she carried one successful pregnancy and we were able to retrieve an embryo for another. She was owned,shown, and loved by the Guthrie (Roxanne, Kelsey, and Dutch) family of Michigan from the time she was a yearling to her 17th year when she was brought to Black Creek Crossing to retire. Try as I might the first year to keep her out with the other mares in the pastures, she was usually happier in a stall. I called her my "city kid" who grew up having a full time job and being very pampered so it took a little time for her to get used to a life of leisure.  I had a very senior mare who had come from a ranch out west who showed her the ropes~ stuff like going in the shed when it's raining, etc. It has been a huge honor being entrusted with such a great mare. This year has become a significant challenge for her with some major knee problems so the decision was made to let her be at rest. We thank the Guthrie family for the wonderful years we got to have Invest N Cutie with us.
